University–Hospital Collaboration Conference (Kraków, 3 December 2025)
On 3 December 2025, the Krakow Specialist Hospital of St. John Paul II hosted the conference “University–Hospital Collaboration – New Opportunities” at the Conference and Training Center (Pavilion A5) in Kraków.
The event continued a conference series dedicated to the role of science and innovation in advancing healthcare. Following the previous edition, held under the theme “The Role of Innovation in Hospital Development”, this year’s meeting focused on new models of cooperation between universities and hospitals, especially in the context of joint research initiatives, implementation of medical innovation, and the practical use of academic expertise in clinical settings.
Participants included researchers and physicians from the Krakow Specialist Hospital of St. John Paul II, as well as representatives of the Jagiellonian University, including experts from CITTRU (the Center for Technology Transfer)—a unit supporting collaboration between academia and industry, commercialization of research outcomes, and the transfer of modern technologies into medical practice.
A special contribution came from Dr hab. Przemysław Spurek (Jagiellonian University), who presented emerging approaches at the intersection of AI and medicine. Among other topics, he discussed the potential of 3D Gaussian Splatting for medical applications, highlighting how next-generation 3D representation methods can support visualization and innovation in clinical and research workflows.
The conference aimed to strengthen collaboration between academic, clinical, and economic stakeholders through joint research-and-implementation projects. Such cooperation translates into the development of medical services, improved treatment effectiveness, and broader promotion of innovation in healthcare. The meeting also created space for exchanging experience, discussing challenges in scientific and clinical collaboration, and presenting ongoing joint research projects.
